Faster than the Speed of Spam

Had a nice piece of Spam in my personal email inbox yesterday morning from AdAge…what annoyed me the most was the fact that there was zero personalization nor any chance to opt out.  I’m not a regular reader of AdAge, so I assume they got my email through my blog or perhaps a database they have of blogs in the Power 150 (trust me, I’m not in the actual “150″ but this blog is listed).  The topic of the email was pointing me to a video of Joseph Jaffe talking about social media blunders. Irony anyone? Engaging people in a conversation should not start with a blind and impersonal email, ever. If I wanted to hear about the video, as a person interested in social media, you bet I got it in my RSS reader from the man himself. That RSS feed is something I opted into.

There is so much complaining about bad PR people and spam, when a publication does the same thing, don’t they deserve the same treatment?

AdAge Spam

Ignore the tweet about me being an idiot in front of Apple support, although that certainly is true

  1. Bizarre and weird how I ended up in the middle of this. Hopefully the content was relevant though :)

  2. That was another of the ironies, the content was definitely relevant and I certainly enjoyed. It was just the delivery by AdAge.

    Thanks for stopping by!
