Much is made about the Cult of the Amateur and it’s negative connotations. I however believe that amateurs are often times much more fun than professionals. Take sports for instance, watching amateur baseball players toil in the minors is an amazing process of heart, talent, emotion and sometimes temporary insanity. At this point I love going to a PawSox game as much as I enjoy heading to Fenway. Same goes online and I just had a wonderful experience.
I’m a new Mac user. I love my MacBook Pro already, yet I often have simple questions that my PC-legacy brain won’t let itself answer. Constantly I’m searching for help, but found rather quickly that going directly to Apple.com was fairly useless. I also found that when I searched for something, typically the first link pushes me to Apple and the second is an ‘amateur’. At this point I always select the second link. This morning I was struggling to figure out my Flip Cam with iMovie and it was this video that saved my day.
From the video I learned that I needed Quicktime Pro to make the magic happen. After buying the registration key from Apple and following the directions exactly, it didn’t work…and I’m still trying to find help from Apple with my issue. Cult of the Amateur indeed.
