My Next Move?
This blog is almost two years old and it truly marked my trip into social media. Over the past 24 months I’ve been lucky to share my passion for social media and learn from others in a supportive community. Whether you were commenting on this blog, Twittering with me, friending me on Facebook or sipping coffee the folks I have met through social media in the past two years have shifted the way I think and what I want to do with my career. For the first time in my 11 years of being in the PR industry I’m at a crossroads.
March 14th will be my final day at Horn Group. This is a decision that was talked about for a long time and was not an easy decision for me to make. I have so much appreciation and respect for the crew around me (@julesc, @carolehutch, @lisaa123, @leslie1120 and everyone else who does not Twitter or blog…you know who you are!) and what they have done for me, particularly Len for allowing me to follow him here and supporting me every step of the way.
Questions?
“So where are you going Kyle?”
Actually…I have no plans currently except to talk with as many people as possible to try and figure out my next opportunity.
“Gasp!!”
I know, it’s scary, but I wanted to make sure that I did this right. As I said, I want to spend time talking with all of the people out there (yes, that means you) and get their take on where social media, PR and marketing is going and what someone with a passion for it should be doing each and every day.
“What do you want?”
That is a loaded question, but I’m not entirely sure to be honest. I want an environment that feels strongly that the marketing/PR rules have changed and that social media is an important component. I want a place that supports the implementation of new ideas, even if some fail. I want to be strategic, but get my hands dirty. I want to continue to blog, Twitter and more.
“Boston only?”
No. The right opportunity is the right opportunity, no matter the location (this has been discussed with my family, FYI).

Best wishes as you take your leap of faith off into the unknown! I’ve done that a couple of times in my life and been pleased with how things have worked out. Hope all goes well for you!

I think to pass the time and make some money (well, enough to maybe buy a few rounds at the Cask n Flagon if not actually get to a game when they start up NEXT MONTH!!!) while you look for your next opportunity, you should become a regular contributor to this amaaaaazing Internet publication I heard about, Media Bullseye. I hear the gal in charge of it is the coolest girl ever, too. Just sayin’…
